Research overview

I am an international multi-award winning educator and researcher. I also have significant experience of national and international accreditation of UG and PG programmes.

My research interests cover the rare form of osteoarthritis; Alkaptonuria (AKU), anatomy and public engagement.

My work on AKU has seen development of in vitro models, characterisation and discovery of murine ochronosis and the novel presentations and discoveries in the human condition.

I have extensive experience in local, national and international public engagement projects and used these to gather data to inform delivery and design of curricula in health and allied health settings. I am currently leading the world's largest ever study on what people know about anatomy.

I have authored hundreds of public engagement and science communication pieces that have reached every corner of the globe and appeared in mainstream TV, Radio, Print and Online media.
